Supercar Expérience 2019….. Gentlemen, start your engines
When you drive a supersports or supercar you can play at being a Russian ‘businessman’ or a frivolous ‘bling bling’ fashion victim drawing attention to yourself blipping the throttle at 30mph or parking it outside the front door of a hip restaurant, bar or nightclub. Or you could also come and empty your fuel tank and ruin your tyres on the mythical roads of Mont Ventoux!…. It’s even for a good cause!
Once again, this year we climbed the mountain to an altitude of 1417 metres in the cold, snow, fog and storms, avoiding attacks from wolves, Dutch cyclists and angry goats (perhaps!). OK, we were actually in Indian Summer mode….. There was sun and a bunch of happy drivers, ready once again to attack the twisty roads of the Giant of Provence and savour its moon-like landscape.
On the programme, ground-to-ground missiles, tarmac burners, mechanical monsters, superpowered beasts, super-tuned engines following the mantra ‘light is right’, all of them sharing a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. A band of brothers on the summit of Mont Ventoux.
Except that once behind the steering wheel the serious stuff begins….. Passengers who have committed themselves to a good cause (les Pupilles des Pompiers) come on board and we set about providing them with an experience they’ll never forget.
The choice was large and varied…. From a Ferrari 488 GTB Pista to a Porsche 997 Techart, not forgetting an Alpine A110, Lotus Elise, Viper GTS, BMW M3 and M2 or the fireworks provided by a Nissan GTR or the Mercedes C63 AMG and not forgetting the day’s favourite, a Peugeot 205 GTi 1.9 ‘Jérôme’s Claw’, a true time-warp machine.
We even had pro drivers. Mattéo d’Ikonic made the trip with a Porsche 997 GT3 3.8 (soon to be on DLEDMV), the Driveart team made a great effort, Laurent tickling our taste buds with an R35, a Lamborghini Huracan and an Alpine A110. BR-Performance Marseille and MM Luxury Custom Avignon also came along to warm things up with ‘Godzilla’ and a BMW M2.
Once again this year, Bruno and his team did a fantastic job and left everyone who had squeezed into a passenger seat with unforgettable memories. All those moments were captured by our serial shooters, Rudy of RGPhotographie, Gregory’s Eye and Car and Char-ly.
And just like every year, the same phrase on everyone’s lips…… See you next year!
